How do i change the shutter speed on a nikon coolpix S200?

i dont thnk i can and please dont tell me this is a bad camera i know it is im getting a nikon D40 in december



i wanna try and take a picture with something like light graffiti

The only way to change it is to adjust your shooting mode (sport mode - faster shutter etc), but this may not allow you to use a slow enough speed to capture what you need to. Your camera is a perfectly good camera, it is just not designed for what you want to do. I think you will find that even when you have the D40, you will still have a use for the S200!

Judging from the look of the camera you cant. Sorry but you are going to have to buy a really expensive point and shoot or a DSLR to do that. Probably a DSLR is best because long exposures on point and shoot will have a lot of noise because of their small sensors.
