How would i change the shutter speed on a canon powershot a420?
I take it you don't have the camera's manual????

I'm not familiar with this model, but try...

Press the %26quot;menu%26quot; button located behind the camera.

Look for %26quot;shutter%26quot; and select desired shutter speed.

If that does not work...go to Canon's website!

Read the instructions.
That camera is a point and shoot. It does not give you the ability to adjust the shutter speed.
i cant help you.
My brother has an A470.you go to Manual mode (shows a camera with an M besides it) or Auto mode (Just shows a camera) and press Func. Set. On the side of your LCD screen there will be something that says ISO. Go down to it. On Manual mode, you can change it from Auto, HI, 80, 100, 200, 400, 800, or 1600. In Auto you can only choose Auto or HI.`
